Solution: TeQ Shield RAPIDWATCH
Country: Canada
When tasked with ensuring the safety of divers cleaning debris from a well at the bottom of a three-story concrete structure, United Safety provided an innovative solution using its RAPIDWATCH monitoring system. The challenge was to maintain reliable communication between the divers and a monitoring station 700 meters away, located on a hill. Traditional safety watch methods were impractical, and the client required a more advanced, digital monitoring solution.
Challenge:
To ensure a clear radio signal from the bottom of a well to the monitoring unit on the hill which was about 700 meters away.
Solution:
TeQ Shield™ RAPIDWATCH monitoring system with a series of Power Control Modules (PCMs) used as repeaters to ensure that the signal was clearly transmitted from the well to the monitoring station 700 meters away.
Result:
A successful project where an efficient digital monitoring system was set up to ensure the safety of the workers in the well.
Key Benefits
RAPIDWATCH addressed this challenge by using Power Control Modules (PCMs) to amplify and transmit the signal across a 700-meter distance. This ensured clear, real-time communication between the well and the monitoring team, enabling uninterrupted oversight of the divers. Key benefits included:
- Portable and Quick Setup: RAPIDWATCH is housed in a rugged Pelican case, making it easy to transport and set up in under 20 minutes. This flexibility allowed the system to be efficiently deployed in challenging environments.
- Digital Monitoring: By replacing traditional safety watch personnel, RAPIDWATCH provided real-time tracking of divers from the moment they entered the well until they exited. This minimized the need for on-site personnel, reducing both costs and risks.
