High safety standards and local content success for Congo and Angola May 2016
On its first issue this year, Oil Review Africa magazine published an article describing United Safety’s successful operations in Angola and Congo (Brazzaville). The two countries are among the top five oil producers in Sub-Saharan Africa. In both countries, oil production comes almost entirely from offshore oil fields.
United Safety faced numerous challenges during the start up of operations in these countries, including equipment mobilization, the set up of a supply chain that complied with local content requirements, and the training and transition of local manpower into world-class HSE professionals.

On March 2016 The Roughneck magazine published an interview with Shayne McCallum, Vice President Canada at United Safety.
The interview covers United Safety’s origins and the reasons why it was founded: the oil and gas industry was in need of a comprehensive solution, from wellhead to retail, and positioned its service offerings to include gas explorers, producers and process operators, thus providing a single standard of safety for all personnel on a given site. Shayne also discussed how United Safety has been growing for the past 29 years, and the areas we currently operate in now, he said “With an eye on market growth and the careful consideration of the particularities and cultural differences in each country, we were able to achieve sustainable growth.”
29th Safety Excellence Awards season kicks off in Texas Feb 2016
The United Safety USA team attended the opening ceremony for the 2016 29th Safety Excellence Awards, on the 5th of February, in Pasadena, Texas. Organized by the Houston Area Safety Council and the Houston Business Roundtable, the Annual Safety Excellence Awards will honor contractors in the Houston/Gulf Coast area that have had an outstanding record of safety performance in 2015.

TeQ Shield™ featured in leading industry magazines and columns
Since its launch at the Global Petroleum Show in June last year, the TeQ Shield™ has invaded industry publications and columns on safety. HSE Now, SPE’s new web- and app-based publication featured the TeQ Shield™ in October and again this month, as an innovative technology designed to do confined space monitoring.
Two other components of the TeQ Shield™ have also been introduced at ADIPEC 2015 such as the Bio and Therma. The TeQ Shield™ Bio is a system that can monitor vitals such as heart rate, breathing rate, and core body temperature of up to 64 workers simultaneously. TeQ Shield™ Therma, on the other hand, is an innovative temperature control system based on compressed-air technology.
