An Emergency Response Technician (ERT) is a certified safety professional who performs standby rescue, supports confined space entry operations, and responds to high-angle emergencies at industrial worksites. In the oil and gas industry, companies deploy ERTs during plant turnarounds, shutdowns, and maintenance activities when workers enter permit-required confined spaces or perform tasks at height. These operations legally require a trained rescue team on standby before work can begin.
Our confined space entry and high angle emergency personnel have experience in developing the Emergency Response Plan and carrying out rescues in a wide range of vessels and industrial facilities. Additionally, United Safety engages this position to also perform site management of personnel and equipment. This approach makes them a much higher utilized resource.

Why Confined Space Rescue Demands Specialist ERTs
Confined spaces – including boilers, storage tanks, pipelines, process vessels, reaction vessels, and ventilation ducts – are among the most hazardous work environments in the oil and gas industry. Conditions inside can be difficult to determine and can change rapidly. Hazards include fire or explosion risk, elevated temperatures, toxic gas, fumes, oxygen deficiency, and severe physical constraints on movement and exit.
What United Safety ERTs Do On Your Site
United Safety’s ERTs bring a dual capability that maximises their value on any worksite. In addition to maintaining full rescue readiness, our technicians actively contribute to site safety management. This reduces idle standby time and increases overall resource utilisation during turnaround operations.
