United Safety first launched its digital confined space monitoring system innovation TeQ Shield™ Guardian at ADIPEC in 2015. A few years on which has seen it successfully deployed in shutdown projects with major operators in the GCC and Asia with upgraded cameras and monitors, United Safety will be bringing it back for live demo at the 18th SPE International Conference and Exhibition on Health, Safety, Security, Environment and Social Responsibility on April 16th-18th 2018 at the Jumeirah Etihad Towers in Abu Dhabi, UAE.
“In today’s challenging economic climate, maintenance shutdowns or turnarounds demand innovations that help maximize productivity and reduce cost. Using our TeQ Shield™ Guardian innovation, we help owners and plant managers gain project control and visibility in all phases of a plant turnaround,” states Dr. Elie Daher, Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer for United Safety.
The TeQ Shield™ is an innovative solution that combines gas detection, video surveillance, two-way communication, access control, permitting, quality control and assurance. United Safety will demonstrate TeQ Shield by providing a command center where users can manipulate and test the TeQ Shield™ Guardian systems and controls.
“Previously, we operated confined space work with what you could call as a blind side. The safety attendant is restricted to the outside of the vessel. Inside, accidents can occur if potential hazards such as a fire, elevated temperatures, gas fumes, vapor, or lack of oxygen are not properly managed. There was also no way to communicate directly with the workers inside” explains Dr. Elie Daher.
