Driving Out of Danger – Oilfield Technology Magazine

This feature article came out in the April 2015 issue of Oilfield Technology Magazine. Andy Kveps is featured along with other subject matter experts on Marine Seismic, Drilling Fluids, Completions, Downhole Tools, Pumping Technology, Mooring, Offshore Pipeline Services, Communications and Safety. In this article, Andy Kveps introduces the Air Qruise™ Electro-Ex, a new electric car designed to keep Oil and Gas workers safe and mobile.

Delivered a custom-built gas safety solution for a Mobile Offshore Drilling Unit (MODU) exposed to H2S

Provision of H2S supervision, training and breathing air and gas monitoring equipment to ensure safety in an H2S emergency. Needs Assessment was conducted to determine a solution for personnel protection and being in compliance with American Bureau of Shipping (ABS).

The customer, a leader in leasing and operating Mobile Offshore Drilling Units (MODUs) worldwide required H2S safety solutions due to the presence of H2S which could potentially have fatal consequences for all personnel onboard.

Determining the dispersion characteristics and tolerability criteria for gas released from the area on a well site.

In order to determine the dispersion characteristics for venting H2S gas from the flare on a well site United Safety developed a dispersion model and analyzed results based on the tolerability criteria for the gases released. The end result was a clear understanding of the gas released and its potential impact.

Development of 16 Safe Work Practices

United Safety wrote, administered and developed 16 selected Safe Work Practices with a comprehensive dossier and created a SharePoint portal to share all information and updates with the client, ensuring better understanding and established new base for SWP.
