On March 2016 The Roughneck magazine published an interview with Shayne McCallum, Vice President Canada at United Safety.
The interview covers United Safety’s origins and the reasons why it was founded: the oil and gas industry was in need of a comprehensive solution, from wellhead to retail, and positioned its service offerings to include gas explorers, producers and process operators, thus providing a single standard of safety for all personnel on a given site. BIC magazine recently published the article “Confined space safety redefined” in their June/July edition. The article mentions how challenging confined space work can be, and how additional safety measures must be in place to prevent accidents. It then goes on to discuss how technology can play an important role in making confined spaces safer. It mentions our recent launch of TeQ Shield™ Guardian, describing the main features of this system that combines access control, two-way communications, continuous gas detection and video surveillance to allow remote monitoring of all confined space work from inside a command center. The magazine features reports from Europe, North and South America, Africa, Asia and the Middle East and provides detailed technical articles about oil and gas exploration, drilling and production.
The April 2015 issue included features focusing on safety technology with bonus distribution at OTC in Houston. The article discussed the evolution of the technology behind the new generation of explosion-proof vehicles and how innovation plays an important role in the rise and fall of significant innovations that made history. United Safety’s Air TreQ™ Blinder was recently featured in HSE Now, the online HSE magazine from SPE.
The article discusses the frequent turnaround bottleneck of short-duration jobs requiring breathing air, such as blinding. The setup for these tasks can take a significant amount of time and resources, causing delays and reducing overall turnaround productivity. Continue Reading

BIC Magazine featured our office inauguration in Midland, Texas in their March 2015 issue.
United Safety recently opened its fifth office in the U.S. in Midland. The expansion aims at tapping into the vast upstream activity in the region. In charge of the new office is Area Manager Steve Terrio. Terrio has been with United Safety for over six years, previously as field coordinator in United Safety’s Corpus Christi, Texas, and area coordinator in Zama, Alberta, Canada, from 2011-2012. United Safety was featured in the February, 2015 issue of BIC magazine. The article describes the challenges faced by an Oil and Gas operator in one of their turnarounds.
Workers were to perform high-risk tasks in confined spaces under breathing air where their breathing activities were to be monitored at all times. It was crucial to provide the ability to immediately identify abnormal breathing patterns before the situation could turn life threatening. “Conditions in Iraq cause high operational costs so any idea or product that reduces project time is welcome,” says Mike Gilbert, United Safety’s Vice President for Middle East/Asia in an interview for The Oil & Gas Year’s Iraq 2014 publication.
