“Conditions in Iraq cause high operational costs so any idea or product that reduces project time is welcome,” says Mike Gilbert, United Safety’s Vice President for Middle East/Asia in an interview for The Oil & Gas Year’s Iraq 2014 publication.

Recently, the company completed a turnaround and shutdown safety service for a customer in Iraq, providing safety watch, quality control personnel and high angle rescue teams and the planning of confined space entry and rescue.

United Safety brought its equipment management system that provides maintenance, inventory control and equipment distribution and dispatch.

The use of this system reduced the amount of safety equipment required on site. Equipment were thoroughly cleaned, inspected and readied in record time that resulted in more tool time per day and shorter project duration.

“The Iraqi market is at the forefront of reform in safety. Implementing a successful safety culture and comprehensive training directives gives a business more depth and reach,” Gilbert adds stressing the importance of the integration of the Iraqi workforce to increase awareness and lead the safety culture.
