United Safety’s article “Innovative Vehicles Ensure Safety While Transiting Through Red Zones” is featured in HSE Now this month.

Innovative Vehicles Ensure Safety While Transiting Through Red ZonesRed zones are high-risk areas with an increased likelihood of immediately dangerous to life and health (IDLH) atmosphere, due to the presence of toxic or flammable gases.

Despite the hazards, operations in red zones must go on, and maintenance must be carried out. In addition, there is also potential for accidents.

A major challenge is ensuring that people transiting through or working in these red zones remain safe at all times. Solutions like gas detection and breathing equipment have evolved in the past 20 years, but they still have limitation such as range, capacity and mobility.

As the industry matures, solutions must evolve through innovation, becoming more reliable, accurate and allowing for a quicker response in the event of an emergency.

One such innovation is the Air Qruise™ technology, launched by United Safety at the 2014 International Petroleum Technology Conference (IPTC), in Doha, Qatar. Filling a critical gap in worker safety in IDLH environments, it protects staff while in transit or working inside vast red zones.
