Ask anyone who has worked a major turnaround and they will tell you: confined space entries are where safety teams feel the pressure most. Visibility is limited, conditions change fast, and the people watching from outside need to know exactly what is happening inside, every second.

For years, TeQ Shield™ GUARDIAN has been helping teams do just that. Now it is time for the next step. GUARDIAN is being retired and replaced by TeQ Shield™ GUARDIAN-PRIME, our next generation of remote confined space monitoring. Here is the story behind it.

The future of remote confined space monitoring Is TeQ Shield™ GUARDIAN-PRIME

Lessons from the field

Every deployment of GUARDIAN taught us something. We saw projects stretch longer and vessels grow more complex. We worked in freezing winters and scorching summers. We saw how much safety teams depend on a stable connection and a reliable power supply.

Rather than patch the old system, we took that global turnaround experience and built PRIME from the ground up. The goal stayed the same: keep confined space workers safe. What changed is how well the system holds up when projects get long, demanding and complicated.

Inside GUARDIAN-PRIME

  • Built for extremes. GUARDIAN-PRIME uses upgraded industrial components and runs in temperatures from -40°C to 50°C, so it performs wherever your project takes you.
  • A network that fixes itself. A self-healing, military-grade wireless mesh reconnects automatically if a node is blocked. Together with upgraded, shielded cabling that resists electrical interference, it keeps the connection stable and secure. It also future-proofs the system for IoT integration.
  • More eyes inside the space. A single Access Control Module (ACM) can now power up to four cameras, and you can choose the camera styles and add environmental sensors to suit your vessel. Connect a gas detector to the ACM, and gas readings sit right alongside live video.
  • Power that doesn’t quit. Hot-swappable battery backups and a new expandable battery pack keep monitoring running, even if site power drops.
  • Signals no one can miss. New LED lights, improved alarm modules and upgraded two-way communication help workers inside and attendants outside stay in clear contact.
  • Data you can trust. Industry-tested software and secure wireless networks keep your project data protected.

What it means for your project

  • No blind spots. More camera angles and environmental monitoring from one setup give your safety team complete situational awareness.
  • Leaner crews. Monitoring multiple complex zones remotely from a single location reduces the need for specialized standby personnel and lowers operating costs.
  • Faster decisions. Gas levels and live video on one dashboard replace siloed systems, so your team can respond in seconds.
  • No downtime. Expandable battery packs keep monitoring running through sudden site power losses, so critical work keeps moving.
  • A kit that fits. Instead of a one-size-fits-all setup, you configure cameras and sensors around your exact vessel geometry and pay only for what you need.
