Beyond the operational disruption of not having the right gear available when required, this created ongoing friction around billing &#8211; with limited visibility into exactly when equipment left the hub, when it was returned, or how long it had actually been in use.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-the-solution\">The Solution<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>United Safety deployed an Automated In Plant Equipment Center (AIPEC) to bring structure and visibility to onsite equipment management. Every piece of equipment was fitted with a GPS tag, enabling continuous, real-time location tracking. A digital geo-fence was established around the equipment hub itself, so that any movement in or out of that boundary was automatically recorded &#8211; creating a precise, timestamped log of check-outs and returns without relying on manual sign-out sheets or personnel oversight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-the-results\">The Results<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The system delivered clear operational and financial benefits:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Real-time equipment tracking<\/strong> &#8211; Equipment could be located quickly and accurately whenever it was needed, reducing downtime caused by searching for misplaced gear.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Accurate, automated billing<\/strong> &#8211; Because the geo-fence recorded the exact moment equipment left and returned to the hub, billing disputes over rental duration were significantly reduced.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Smart daily billing logic<\/strong> &#8211; If equipment was checked out multiple times within a 24-hour period, the system intelligently billed it as a single day&#8217;s rental, avoiding the double-billing issues that manual tracking often introduces.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Automated overdue alerts<\/strong> &#8211; If equipment wasn&#8217;t returned within two days, the system automatically notified supervisors, closing the loop on accountability without requiring manual follow-up.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-why-it-matters\">Why It Matters<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>This project reflects a simple but important shift: turning equipment management from a manual, reactive process into an automated, self-reporting system.
