On April 8-9, 2013, United Safety acted as session managers during the Society of Petroleum Engineer’s workshop on managing quality, health, safety and environment (QHSE) risks in Brownfield Projects and Operation in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
SPE organized the workshop to gather industry leaders to discuss how best to extend the economic producing life of mature fields using cost effective solutions. This often involves retrofitting or extension of initial operating design limits combined with specific QHSE systems.
As a safety system leader, United Safety facilitated the discussion on Simultaneous Operation. Simultaneous Operation is an event where two or more potentially conflicting activities or process operations take place in the same place at the same time. In some cases, multiple contractors and/or a large multi-disciplinary workforce are coordinated simultaneously in the same location and care needs to be taken to ensure that safety processes are in place to handle the situation effectively.
The workshop served to maximize the exchange of ideas among attendees and presenters through brief technical presentations followed by extended breakout sessions and Q&A periods highlighting engineering achievements and lessons learnt.
